MANKIND'S WORST NIGHTMARE
Amazon Forest also known as the lungs for the world located in brazil caught fire in several places a few weeks back
The forest fires in amazon are a scary sight to behold. As the forest keeps burning more and more trees are catching fire which is resulting in spreading of the fire along with winds. It is said that these fires were caused by human interference and were deliberately caused, to clear the land for farming.
The lungs of the Earth are burning and it is a huge thing to worry about. Amazon produces about 20 percent of the oxygen on earth and is a huge carbon dioxide absorber. It is a huge concern for the scientist that if it continues then the region will reach a tipping point where it will be in a position to turn into a great savanna and humans will not be able to reverse this irreversible change in the environment.
Amazon forest is the only forest which generates it's own rainfall and is self-sufficient to last for 1000+ years if the outside influence is stopped. If activities like this are not stopped then there may come a day when the Great Amazon Forest will be a desolate covered with shrubs and no wildlife.
A lot of countries are trying to help restore the Amazon Rain Forest among which Columbia is the one which is at the forefront of all this as it is helping by charging a pollution tax from the people and diverting the funds collected from the tax for reviving forests and helping protected areas.
Other countries as well are playing their part in this as Peru has also started to look at innovative ways to preserve their environment whereas Bolivia has declared a huge area size of Connecticut as a protected area.
Small areas are the ones who are more forward in protecting the rainforest as their livelihood and home depends upon it.
Most of the protected areas are starting to now get proper funds to maintain themselves and to make sure they are flourished properly but the one in Guyana is the one which should be given more thought as it is maintained by the local people and not by the government and they have done a great job at making sure that the area is not damaged or harmed
Ecuador which perhaps has the most diverse wildlife in the region is reaping the reward as it received nearly 20 million dollars last year from its green climate fund.
With these efforts, we are closing to repair the harm and going towards a better future
